
CNC Swiss Machining of a Custom Valve Screw

At Ostec Industries, we specialize in providing our customers with comprehensive solutions to critical manufacturing issues. The project highlighted here is for the manufacture of a custom valve screw, which was designed for general industrial purposes. It is composed of 17-4PH stainless steel, and was manufactured using advanced Swiss screw machines. This high speed machining capability allowed us to create a 0.375" diameter (hex), 0.890" long valve component with a 16 RMS finish, and tightest tolerance of ± 0.0005". Dimensional integrity was confirmed through thorough visual inspection, as well as a dimensional and gage inspection. The project included a total volume of 90,000 units, which were delivered on an as needed basis for production as part of a lean manufacturing strategy.
